National Apprenticeship Week: Spotlight on Lina Lapinskiene

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we are proud to shine a light on Lina, our Deputy Catering Manager, who is currently undertaking a Level 4 Hospitality and Events Management apprenticeship.

In addition to supporting chef apprentices, we offer colleagues the chance to grow their careers through our Invest in Me apprenticeship programme. Over 184 of our colleagues company-wide, including Lina, are currently studying hospitality courses, with learners of all ages developing new skills and advancing their careers with us.

Why did you choose your course?

I’ve been with Lexington for over five years, starting as a Hospitality Assistant and later being promoted to Hospitality Supervisor. After spending three years in that role, I realised I was ready for a bigger challenge and wanted to grow further in the catering industry. I was eager to develop my managerial skills, and I wanted to learn more about the industry, so I decided to take the opportunity to study Hospitality and Events Management through the Apprenticeship programme. I was hungry for new knowledge and experiences to push myself to the next level in my career.

What kind of support is provided on the course (i.e., learning platform, resources, tutor, etc.)?

The apprenticeship programme has been a fantastic opportunity to expand my skill set. I was supported by a dedicated tutor throughout the course. We had regular one-on-one sessions, where she guided me through new subjects and helped me apply them practically in my job. If I had any issues—whether it was about course content or technical problems with the learning platform—my tutor was always accessible. She also prepared me for the final test and the business project, and provided all the information I needed to succeed. The assignments were regular, but each one helped me deepen my understanding.

Any advice for people considering this course?

I highly recommend this course! It equips you with so much knowledge, practical skills, and confidence in your job role. While the year of study was intense, it was absolutely worth it. If you’re thinking about advancing your career, this programme will give you the tools and credentials to move forward.

Anything else you’d like to share about the apprenticeship programme?

My advice is to seize the opportunity. Apprenticeships offer a wide range of courses tailored to various needs, and they allow you to study while continuing to work. When you complete the programme, you not only gain a qualification but also the skills and knowledge to advance your career. Don’t miss out on the chance to grow!
