Mike Sunley, CEO of Lexington, has been recognised for his contribution to the industry at the Foodservice Cateys 2019.
Mike has created an award-winning business and team. Setting out to become a Sunday Times Best Company Mike and the wider leadership team focused on putting ‘people at the heart of the business’ – after becoming a Sunday Times Best Company, Lexington went on to be awarded the Investors in People Gold, achieve 3 Stars from the Sustainable Restaurant Association and Foodservice Caterer of the Year at The Cateys.
Ever since Lexington was established Mike has encouraged the wider team to do things differently – this open attitude and willingness to explore ideas has enabled Lexington to develop an incredibly strong, people-focused culture that fosters innovation and isn’t afraid to learn from mistakes.
The team has been recognised for driving innovation in numerous ways. Lexington was one of the first contract caterers to introduce an apprentice programme and drive health and wellbeing initiatives.
Mike founded Lexington Catering in 2002 and then went on to work with the team to launch two additional brands:
– In 2014, Lexington Reception Services was launched: This is led by Jane Streat, Head of Lexington Reception Service all about delivering an integrated and seamless guest experience. LRS compliments Lexington’s catering and hospitality service and will help UK organisations achieve a seamless approach from the moment visitors and employees enter their building.
– This year the team launched Lexington Independent Schools: A specialist catering company, led by Richard Glass, Head of Independent Schools at Lexington, dedicated to providing delicious, fresh, healthy, exciting food for Independent Schools.
