I hope you all had a fantastic & restful holiday and that your batteries are fully charged!
On the food front it’s the game season with the first of the grouse showing up on menus and the blackberries are in abundance. They’re crying out for the British apples to get it on and mix it up with a crunchy crumble topping with lashings of warm, creamy custard and there in that one dish – autumn is here!
Autumn also spells the start of LexChef Competition hype! The entries from our people across the company (both chefs and non-chefs!) will start to flood in soon, with our semi-finals in October and a grand finale in November. I’ve already lined up some top Industry players to judge our live final which seems to go from strength to strength every year.
Our next wave of Lex School of Talent apprentices are going to be starting with us soon! It’s a really exciting time for us all – just look at what our first apprentice Louise recently achieved with her Chef Stagiaire win & cooking in Michelin starred kitchens! Who would have thought it?!
Some great new restaurants that I’ve visited recently all of which have attracted great reviews and are bang on trend… Smoking Goat, Som Saa & Shackfuyu. The London restaurant scene is on fire at the moment and it’s really exciting being so close to it.
That just leads me to say enjoy the autumn colours on the trees and those comfort foods that start wrapping their arms around us… go with it.
