Here we go September is here and off we go!
Apples and pears are the order of a very British season… Time to make that apple sauce and poach those pears in red wine and bottle now for Christmas perfection! They go brilliantly with stilton as a starter or add to an almond tart for a boozy, spicy punch and top with mascarpone.
Anyway, back to September! The start of the month signifies the launch of our annual Lex Chef Competition, now in its 10th year! It promises to be a top one with some new twists and turns, I will of course keep you posted.
The food team are busy working on our new healthy eating umbrella brand Blend which is hitting your multi decks as I type with a full rollout across the business. The product is looking fantastic on the shelves and our customers are loving it.
We are in the middle of interviewing our new influx of young chefs, all competing to become one of our Lex Apprentices Our apprentice scheme, now in its sixth successful year has played a huge part in making tomorrows superstars and one’s to watch and I personally take immense pride in watching them grow with skills, confidence and attitude!
