When the dark evenings are creeping in upon us it only calls for one thing… big hearty soups with crusty bread weighed down with butter and slow cooked stews that are packed out with root veggies. Simply beautiful.
This month has already seen our annual LexChef final where upon 60 entrants became 24, then 24 became eight, then eight became one! It was an action packed final with some of the best cooking I’ve ever seen in the competition and our celebrity judges James Golding, Head Chef at The Pig; Claire Clarke MBE, International Pastry Chef and Tomer Amedi, Head Chef at The Palomar certainly had a difficult decision on their hands. But in the end there could only be one winner and that was Stuart Tarff from London Business School, proving that pastry chefs really can cook too! It was his dessert that clinched it for him – simply stunning, it blew Claire Clarke’s MBE socks off!
Remember to start thinking about making your Christmas puddings, Christmas cake and sweet mincemeat soon as they always taste a million times better when they’ve been left to steep in all those lovely juices and flavours!
Well that just leaves me to dive right into the silly season and wish you all a happy November, keep warm and see you in December!
Sleep, love, eat.
