We know that many of our customers start the year committed to improving their health and wellbeing. At the moment it’s all about juices, soups and raw foods on the high street and this is reflected in our restaurants and cafes, with our award-winning Let’s Energise and Vitalicious Juice range.
Research from M&C Allegra Foodservice shows the demand for healthy eating is anticipated to continue to grow over the next five years. However, the reality is that many people have such busy lives and struggle to live up to their aim – we’ve been working with our teams to engage with our customers and ensure we are offering a selection of healthy but tasty food.
Eating the right food can make us more productive
This is not only important for our customers – helping them to meet their health and wellbeing objectives – but it’s important for employers. A healthy workforce means a productive workforce.
When we think about the factors that contribute to workplace performance, we rarely give much consideration to what we eat and drink. For those of us rushing to meetings, battling to meet a deadline and managing emails food is simply fuel.
But this is counter-productive. If we are not eating a healthy diet and getting all the essential nutrients we need then they we will end up feeling low in energy and will be unable to perform at our best.
Our Let’s Energise food range was designed with this in mind. The range is full of shaker pot salads, wraps, breakfast smoothies and healthy snacks, including granola bars and Energy Bombs, to ensure customers can maintain super high energy throughout the day and still enjoy tasty food.
Increase in demand for ‘free from’ foods
You only have to step into a supermarket and you can see the shelves are exploding with gluten-free choices. Recent research shows there is now a much bigger demand for ‘free from’ foods than ever before.
This is partly due to greater awareness of a gluten-free diet as a result of increasing diagnoses of allergies, coeliac disease and other gluten sensitivities, and the diet’s perceived health benefits.
At the start of this year we launched our ‘free from’ homemade gluten free bakery range. Our aim is to build more to this menu over time, to include vegan, sugar free and raw bakery items; making the best tasting gluten free food, so our customers can enjoy all their favourite foods.
To help our customers meet their health and wellbeing related goals we’ve uploaded the nutritional information for Let’s Energise onto MyFitnessPal app. This helps track what you are eating – it is perfect for customers who are trying to reach a particular goal, develop new habits or achieve a balanced diet.
We know the trick to eating well is not learning to stop eating or resist temptation. It’s making sure healthy food is tasty and an easy and appealing option.
