Gulp…where is this year going?!
The gardens in the UK are bursting with colour and scent and the courgette and tomato plants are growing at a crazy rate! Make sure you always store your Tommy T’s outside of the fridge to get the best flavour from them, it makes a huge difference! The strawberries will be drawing to a close soon but don’t despair, as all the beautiful raspberries that are bursting full of flavour will soon be taking over!
We have just held our most recent Chefs Forum where over 110 heads chefs and guests met up and talked all things food and drink with artisan baker Paul Rhodes, our supplier Premier Cheese and craft beer maker Harviestoun. The evening rounded off in style with an amazing beer, cheese and bread paring, it was so much fun (and very tasty). Our Chef Forums are a great chance for our chefs to get together and talk ‘chef’ whilst meeting some really passionate suppliers and industry figures.
In other news, junior chef and ex Lex School of Talent Apprentice, Louise Roberts, has made it through to the Craft Guild of Chefs Graduate Awards final for a third time. To enter this really tough competition shows real commitment, drive and ambition – true qualities behind any great chef! We wish Lou all the best for the final, as I always like to say, “go rattle the pots and pans!’’
There’s a fab picnic posset recipe on the Lexy blog from my book ‘Family Kitchen’ – its super easy and scrummy so why not take this along to a summer’s picnic with something chilled to drink and you’re guaranteed to be the star of the afternoon!
Enjoy and have fun in the sun…
