Looking for a great way to keep your little ones entertained for a few hours? It’s time to break out the mixing bowl!
Baking with kids isn’t just a great way to whip up some delicious treats for later – learning to follow a recipe, measure ingredients and patiently wait for their creations teaches valuable life skills! For younger ones, it’s also thought to be great for developing coordination, hand strengthening and other key skills.
Plus, what better time to chat to them about nutrition, than when you’re handling ingredients (or trying to stop them from eating all the chocolate chips before the cookie mixture sees them?)
Baking delicious treats doesn’t require a special trip out to the supermarket, there are lots of substitutable ingredients in most simple recipes. Take it from our Group Development Chef, Jon Lilley, who adapted Rob Kirby’s Cooking With Kids cookie recipe to fit what we had in his cupboard!
