Wow Christmas is finally here!
First up LexChef – well let me tell you that girl power reigns here at Lexington! Our winner of the 2015 LexChef competition was previous Lex School of Talent Apprentice, Emily Clark and hot on her heels was a final made up of 50% female chefs! The times they are a changing… for the better!
I am so proud of the LexChef brand and how strong it has become; this was very apparent on the night with over 180 guests in attendance! A big thank you to our LexChef judges and friends: Clare Smyth MBE, holder of three Michelin stars; Mark Flanagan, Head Chef at Buckingham Palace; Phil Howard, holder of two Michelin stars; Jeff Galvin, of Galvin’s restaurant fame and holder of one Michelin star; and Peter Joiner, Elior’s Food Development Director.
Most of the guys have judged the competition several times now, they have all said how impressive our chefs are and how every year the cooking just gets better and better. Well that made me incredibly proud and I still have a huge smile on my face.
In season at the moment are lovely root vegetables, sprouts, snips (also known as parsnips!) and the fat turkeys that should all be on their best form and ready to rock ‘n’ roll come Christmas Day!
There’s a great punchy piccalilli recipe on the blog perfect for Boxing Day meats and bubble ‘n’ squeak.
Have the best Christmas ever! I’ll be on the BBC Breakfast sofa on Christmas Day talking turkey once again…
